As promised in my last post, I have made a list of some wildlife/nature related events across the UK! For more events, look on your local Wildlife Trust Page and on the RSPB website!
17th-20th March - Photography Show. This is an event held at the NEC in Birmingham and is excellent to learn more about photography (including wildlife photography) and to get your hands on some bargain deals! 24th March - Earth Hour. This is an event organised by the WWF to raise awareness of the crisis that is climate change. Basically, for this event all you need to do it turn off all your lights for an hour at 8.30pm. Major landmarks across the world will also have their lights out for this momentous event so you could always visit one of these! Last year for Earth hour, we sat with candles and played board games and it was brilliant to take part in this event. You could even organise a candlelit party with some friends or get back to nature and go on a starlit walk! 6th-8th April - RSPB Weekend. For this event held at the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham, a day pass or a weekend residential ticket can be purchased. It is excellent for loads of wildlife talks and activities and also a good networking opportunity!! 22nd April - Earth Day. A major event to aim to reduce the amount of plastic pollution. I would take the event to stop using single use plastics and to learn more about the impact of plastic on the environment! 6th-12th May - Hedgehog Awareness Week. An excellent day for fundraising to raise awareness of hedgehogs. Maybe even organise a cake sale at your school or workplace! 29th July - International Tiger Day. This event will be hosted at many zoos and wildlife parks. 2nd-5th August - Countryfile Live. This exhibition is held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and hosts loads of wildlife activities, live music and a vast array of food! 17th-19th August - Birdfair at Rutland Water, Leicestershire. This is an event full of every nature enthusiast. Think of the conventions at the NEC in Birmingham, it's like that but outdoors and has so much to see and do! Many of the top naturalists come to this event to give talks to the public, and with wildlife cruises and lots of exhibitors. 15th September - International Red Panda Day. This event will be hosted at many zoos and wildlife parks. 15th September - World Cleanup Day. Even if you just pick up one piece of litter off the floor this day, you will be helping in a massive move to reduce the amount of waste dumped on the streets and in our water networks.
